patch 8.2.1842: crash when USE_FNAME_CASE is defined and using :browse
Problem: Crash when USE_FNAME_CASE is defined and using :browse.
Solution: Don't use read-only memory for ".". (Yegappan Lakshmanan,
closes #7123)
